New York’s repeal of 100-foot rule delayed until 2027
New York Governor Kathy Hochul has signed an amendment delaying the repeal of the state's 100-foot rule until April 10, 2027. The repeal would have forced property developers, builders, and new applicants to pay for the materials and installation of new connections to natural gas. The delay gives the state Public Service Commission more time to establish regulations over how the costs of a new gas hookup are paid, and by whom. Critics say the policy drives up expenses, limits reliable energy, and hurts families and small businesses.
